CLO Virtual Fashion (hereinafter “CLO”), a globally recognized provider of end-to-end 3D digital solutions for the apparel industry, announced a final appellate victory in its copyright infringement lawsuit against Zhejiang Lingdi Digital Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Lingdi”), the developer of Style3D software. The Zhejiang Provincial Higher People’s Court issued a binding judgment in Case No. (2025) Zhe Min Zhong 576, affirming that Lingdi had, over an extended period and at significant scale, routinely used unauthorized, cracked versions of CLO software in its daily operations—and directly applied them to commercial activities. The court found this conduct “clearly commercially motivated” and ruled that it constituted direct infringement of CLO’s legitimate rights. Lingdi is now ordered to immediately cease all infringing acts and pay compensation to CLO.

CLO Wins Landmark Lawsuit: Court Rules Style3D Developer Illegally Used CLO Software

“We sincerely respect and thank China’s judicial authorities for delivering a fair and robust ruling,” said Simon Kim, CEO of CLO Virtual Fashion. “This outcome powerfully demonstrates China’s strong commitment to intellectual property protection and sends a clear message to the entire industry: originality must be respected, the rule of law upheld, the business environment optimized, and healthy competition promoted. This verdict strengthens our confidence in the future of technology enterprises in China.”

“For CLO, original innovation and IP respect are the bedrock of our sustainable growth—not only in safeguarding our own IP but also in fulfilling our promise to users. A company’s reverence for intellectual property directly determines whether it can reliably protect its customers’ interests. Our legal action was never solely about recovering financial loss; it was driven by a deeper mission—to foster a fair, innovation-friendly ecosystem where every creator can confidently build upon our technology. We envision a future where every developer and designer who upholds originality and integrity benefits from our technological progress.”

Victory Rooted in Innovation and Local Commitment

This legal win reflects CLO’s long-standing dedication to technological innovation and compliance. As a global leader in 3D apparel digitization, CLO treats IP protection as vital to its core competitiveness while deepening its investment in the Chinese market:

Localized Product Development: Continuously refining its product suite to meet the specific workflows and needs of Chinese enterprises, supported by local teams offering responsive technical support and service.
End-to-End Industry Empowerment: CLO’s 3D solutions are widely adopted across China in fashion design, film and TV production, gaming, and digital marketing—enabling thousands of companies, academic institutions, and creators to achieve full digital workflows, boosting efficiency and competitiveness.
Collaborative Ecosystem Building: CLO actively engages with diverse local users and partners to co-create a thriving, mutually beneficial digital fashion ecosystem.

CLO’s innovation has earned global recognition. In 2024, Dr. Jaden Oh, CLO’s co-founder, received an Academy Award® (Oscar) for Scientific and Technical Achievement for his pioneering work on Marvelous Designer—a CLO product that revolutionized visual effects in global cinema. This honor underscores the industry’s high regard for CLO’s technological contributions.

Simon Kim concluded: “Our commitment to the Chinese market is long-term and unwavering. Going forward, we will continue to empower China’s fashion industry through localized R&D, agile technical support, and deep collaboration with ecosystem partners. We stand ready to grow alongside Chinese businesses—serving as a bridge for Chinese enterprises going global and international resources entering China. On one hand, we will firmly defend our rights and those of our partners through legal means to uphold fair competition; on the other, we will further increase our investment in China, delivering products and services precisely aligned with the nation’s digital transformation needs.”
